Dealing from a position of strength

Sources: Falcons Pursuing Deal To Land Jets' Abraham

The
Atlanta Falcons are working hard to assemble the appropriate pieces of a trade package intended to lure prized defensive end John Abraham from the New York Jets, ESPN and ESPN.com have confirmed through league sources.

One significant road bump to a deal that, despite ongoing efforts from both sides, remains a long shot: The Falcons steadfastly refuse to include two-year veteran quarterback
Matt Schaub, the player Jets officials regard as the centerpiece to any deal, in their trade proposals.

It is believed the Jets are seeking Schaub and the Falcons' second-round draft pick for Abraham.

Without the inclusion of Schaub, the backup to
Michael Vick and a youngster whose résumé includes just two regular-season starts, the swap might never be consummated. But Atlanta in particular continues to pursue it and hopes to craft a package that might attract the Jets, but without having to surrender Schaub or the Falcons' first-round draft choice, the 15th overall selection in the lottery.

The Falcons should wait this thing out as long as they can. Nobody is giving the Jets are first round pick for John Abraham, and niether should we. The closer we get to the draft, the better.

John Abraham had a big season last year, he registered 67 tackles, 10½ sacks, six forced fumbles, one recovery and two passes defensed. But, he doesn't play hurt(Really) and everybody knows that he doesn't want to come back to the Jets and the Jets don't want him back, so the Jets aren't dealing from a position of strength.

If Daunte Culpepper only got the Vikings a second round pick, than we should only give the Jets a second round pick. Maybe a 2nd and a 4th round pick would do. I'll trade Schuab for a high draft pick, not for an expensive oft injurded defensive lineman. Might as well bring Brady Smith back

Duckett Addressing '05 Failures In Offseason

"I hope I'm back," the four-year veteran and former first-round pick said. "I love this city. I love this organization, and I want to get a chance to right what was wrong last year. Personally, I didn't have the best season I could have had. There are areas where I need to improve.

"I plan on being ready," Duckett said.

T.J. Duckett is alot like Mike Vick to me. I loved him under Dan Reeves, and hate him under Jim Mora.

I'd trade him if the price is right

In other news, the Falcons
Falcons have Offered Lawyer Milloy a 3 Years deal.

Milloy, 32, played seven seasons with New England before playing the last three with Buffalo. He was released by the Bills for salary-cap reasons.

Milloy, a four-time Pro Bowler, has averaged 103 tackles over his 10-year career. He had 106 tackles last season. He may be the stopper the Falcons have been missing.

"They talked about a leadership role because of his experiences," Poston said. "Being a Pro Bowl player, Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl veteran, he could add maturity and be a good decision maker in the secondary."

The Falcons tandem of Bryan Scott and Keion Carpenter started at safety for most of last year. Carpenter, a free agent, is not expected to be re-signed, and Scott will fight for a roster spot.

What the hell is up with these long term contracts to these older players.Falcons give Brian Finneran a 4 year deal and now want to offer a 3 year deal to Milloy. I don't want a 35 year old Safetys playing on my team. I can live with Milloy for a year or two, but not 3. Could you just imagine a safety tandum of this....

I wish

Also, is Hoopz from "The Flavor of Love" not the hotest girl on T.V. (sorry, couldn't find a picture) She is half black and half white. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Lordy, Lordy, do you guys agree?

I love you Hoopz! ( I wonder what's her real name though)

yeah.. there is a team willing to give up their 1st round pick for abraham.. seattle. except abraham wants to come to atlanta. obviously schaub isnt budging, otherwise the jets wouldnt have gotten ramsey. i hope we work somethin out, hes a beast and hes only 27. our next biggest problem other than safety was our terrible pass rush last year. we added crocker from cleveland, i think he'll be good. his numbers have improved each year and hopefully theyll continue to improve. we need to keep duckett, hes important to our team.

i hope you remember when he was injured for a couple weeks and we could never get the ball in the endzone from the 3 yard line. we need him for those goal line TDs...

Erik,

Good luck with Milloy...Belichick unloaded him because he was a cancer in the clubhouse and a step slow in coverage. All he did in Buffalo is anchor a team that lost almost twice as many games as they won.

As far as Abraham: go get him!!! Get him the heck out of the AFC East. The man is a monster. I just wonder if the Falcolns can get enough out of him in a 3-4 defense.

Hoopz: no comment. I refuse to admit that this redneck Yank from Boston watched Flavor of Love.

p.s. FLAVOR-FLAV!

Damn, somebody caught my double post

Hoopz is a dime. Flav is to ugly to keep her

we all knew that

The Falcons aren't playing a 3-4, and as long as he can help the run D.

I'm happy

This has been a solid off season so far

Hopefully Abe can bully his way to the ATL

who cares about milloy.. i dont care if hes not in him prime anymore, that wasnt the main reason for signing him. the falcons had the youngest defense in the NFL. milloy atleast brings a veteran presence. and crocker has the potential to be a stud, got him for a 4th rd pick thats a good deal.

atleast the falcons are looking to improve our worst position, im proud of them.
